We are thrilled to share the successful launch of the first Harmonious Entrepreneurship Society Online Enterprise Competition, in partnership with the University of Wales Trinity St. David and International University of Malaya-Wales. A mix of share and signpost, to help entrants in our beta-test competition, align with the types of business, we, at the HES, would like to inspire, support, and showcase.
David and I expect our competition teams to apply systems thinking and the principle of harmony to generate innovative proposals that address the 3Ps (Profit-Planet-People), challenge the status quo, and create the businesses that we really need, right now, to displace the existing systems and models that are letting us all down.
Thank you to our HES Interns, Laura Yildiz and Adrienne Boran, who helped us plan and co-ordinate the online launch day, alongside our UWTSD including INSPIRE and IICED (Dylan William- Evans, Sophie Hancock, Dr Kathryn Penaluna) and IUMW colleagues (Dr Nisa Omar, Dr Sharmila Sethu, Laura Evans). They have all gifted support with the wider competition design and support in embedding the competition across several faculties. Thanks also to our Welsh Government support (Ann Swift) and Maria Morlais and Ella Minty at Circklo, our harmonious business configurator sponsor.
We also thank Jacqui Jones, UWTSD International Travel & Tourism, who worked with our interns to signpost us to several HES role models for our events day. These included Ewan Rees (VIP Wales), Shanna McFadden Drivenes (Dirty Girls Mud Run), Alex Hayes (Concept Asia, Wear London) and Jessie Wakley (Harbour Lights).
A big thank you also to the Business Wales ‘Big Ideas Role Models’, Gareth I. Jones (Town Sq), Jessica Leigh Jones MBE (iungo Solutions), and also David Brooks (Wales Co-operative Centre) who led inspired skills sessions
As David said after the event “We are extremely grateful to everybody, including the students, who made this such an exciting and memorable event. Once, we have fully tested the programme and online learning materials we have produced, we intend to launch the competition globally during the academic year 2022/23”.
Good luck to all our IUMW and UWTSD teams!
