At the Harmonious Entrepreneurship Society, we strongly believe in learning by doing, an essential aspect of Entrepreneurship Education that we promote as a standard for education. It is not about what you know, but what you can do with that knowledge. Our approach encourages students to apply their understanding in real-world contexts, thinking and behaving entrepreneurially to create innovative, sustainable solutions.
As part of this mission, we were fortunate to have Mehmet Iren, a talented student from Charterhouse School in Surrey. Mehmet was Chair of the School’s Sustainability Society and we met him when we addressed the Charterhouse School Sustainability Conference in 2023. He joined us as an intern this summer and has been instrumental in helping us shape our communications for a younger audience, specifically aimed at students aged 9-14, to inspire the next generation of Harmonious Heroes.

Mehmet is set to continue his studies at UCL London to pursue Human Geography, and his work with us has shown a maturity and insight that will no doubt serve him well in the future.
Shares Mehmet, “My internship at the Harmonious Entrepreneurship Society has taught me a different entrepreneurial perspective. During this internship I have understood that to solve the challenges of our world, we must adopt the ideology of sustainable entrepreneurship. Business ideas must focus not only on wealth creation but also on protecting the environment and solving societal problems. Creativity was one of the most valuable skills I gained from my internship at the Harmonious Entrepreneurship Society. By using visuals, I designed educational material for young adults. Looking forward, I will inspire young adults to adopt a sustainable mindset so that they can achieve successful entrepreneurial ventures”.
Working alongside Mehmet has been incredibly valuable for us, not just in terms of his practical contributions but in shaping our messaging to resonate with younger students. We are grateful for the energy and passion he has brought to this project. As Mehmet prepares to move on to the next stage of his journey, we are confident that his contributions here will have a lasting impact both on how we engage young minds and how he will create sustainable value in his communities.
