Following the inspiring momentum of Global Entrepreneurship Week 2024 (GEW2024) last week, we reflect on the incredible ways entrepreneurship transcended traditional boundaries this year, fostering pathways for meaningful and sustainable change. Fresh from success at ISBE 2024 with research on Wales’s entrepreneurial education pipeline and harmonious enterprises, Felicity’s latest initiative with Llanelli schools demonstrates how these principles manifest in practical, community-centred action.
Through the Harmonious Heroes initiative with the Llanelli EntreComp Cluster Schools, entrepreneurial learning comes alive through real community engagement. These programmes are more than educational exercises—they exemplify how entrepreneurship inspires collaboration, curiosity, and transformation. The initiative, “Cyflawnwyr Newid Menter Cytûn,” designed by Felicity in partnership with the Llanelli Township network, embodies harmonious entrepreneurship in action. Using the EntreComp framework, the programme equips educators and empowers students to develop vital competences like creativity, resourcefulness, and problem-solving. These skills are applied through real-world projects addressing community challenges such as environmental sustainability and social cohesion, helping young people create value while balancing impact with responsibility.
What makes these initiatives so impactful is their deep connection to the local community. Co-designed, they address pressing local challenges while contributing to broader societal goals. This balance of local relevance and global alignment demonstrates that meaningful change begins where we are—with the resources, relationships, and opportunities immediately available to us. The programme emphasises inquiry-based learning and collaboration in developing entrepreneurial competences.
As we look ahead, these school projects are just the beginning. Our focus now turns to supporting Llanelli schools as they nurture these initiatives and forge deeper connections with local partners. With a network of facilitation, each project will evolve organically, shaped by authentic community needs. While GEW2024 themes resonate with this work, the real impact will come from how our school communities—pupils, teachers, leaders, and support staff—collaborate with local partners to bring these projects to life, showing how enterprise rooted in community can be a powerful force for positive change.

HES’s PROSPER principles (Kirby & El-Kaffass) that guide Harmonious Heroes – from being Purpose Driven and Practically Innovative to staying Socially Engaged – will continue to shape these projects as schools refine their designs and build connections over the coming academic terms. Through critical thinking, problem-solving, and creative collaboration, our young people are developing the entrepreneurial mindset needed to evaluate challenges and act on opportunities. We wish all the schools well as they continue to forge meaningful partnerships and develop projects that balance purpose with impact, ensuring their ideas help people, protect the planet, and create lasting positive change in our community.
