A special update to announce our chapter in “Extracurricular Enterprise and Entrepreneurship Activity: A Global and Holistic Perspective, Vol: 19,” expertly edited by Dr Sarah Preedy and Dr Emily Beaumont. The contribution of myself and David is on the Beta Test of our Harmonious Entrepreneurship Online Global Student Competition. It underscores our commitment to enhancing entrepreneurship education through practical, real-world applications and supports the ongoing shift towards more experiential and interdisciplinary learning approaches in higher education.
Our chapter details the beta test of our online competition involving students and staff from the University of Wales Trinity St. David and the International University of Malaya-Wales, Malaysia. The competition is not only about challenging students to think entrepreneurially but also about embedding sustainability deeply into their entrepreneurial initiatives. Participants, both academic mentors and students, learn how to create enterprises that address global sustainability challenges while maintaining economic viability and contributing positively to society and the environment.

We are thrilled to contribute this chapter to the volume because it encapsulates our research and the practical applications of Harmonious Entrepreneurship. It reflects our commitment to a transformative educational approach that equips students with the skills and mindset needed to address pressing global issues. The chapter showcases not only theoretical underpinnings but also practical implications and outcomes of implementing such a competition, highlighting how it can serve as a model for other educational institutions aiming to address the pressing sustainability challenges facing the planet and its inhabitants.
We invite colleagues, students, and fellow researchers to delve into our findings and discussions, which we hope will inspire further application and development of the concept.
About the Book:
Reviewing the growth and development of enterprise and entrepreneurship extracurricular activities within Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) globally, Extracurricular Enterprise and Entrepreneurship Activity considers the form these activities take – their benefits and impacts upon participants, institutions, and the wider community.
The authors shine a light on an underrepresented area of enterprise and entrepreneurship education to encourage discussion and development of practice and policy, but also to fuel appreciation and understanding of the topic.
Contemporary Issues in Entrepreneurship Research is an official book series of the Institute for Small Business and Entrepreneurship (ISBE). Each volume is designed around a specific theme of importance to the entrepreneurship and small business community with articles collectively exploring and developing theory and practice in the field.
Available:
Thank you to all those involved in the beta test – all students, academic mentors, and the wider support of the event development and competition management, across the two continents.
