I am delighted to share the exciting news that Felicity has recently been awarded her Doctorate degree and her graduation ceremony is scheduled for 11th July 2023. Her Doctoral research has focused on exploring how Higher Education educators develop Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) in learners, moving beyond the memorisation of facts and enhancing creativity, problem-solving, and critical thinking. This topic is a perfect fit with our entrepreneurial education agenda, and Felicity’s unique approach to capturing the phenomenon introduces a fresh perspective.
For the philosophical minds among us, Felicity utilised a branch of phenomenology to gain direct access to the unspoken and ineffable experiences of phenomena. By exploring the temporal, embodied, and relational aspects of educators’ lived experiences of HOTS facilitation, valuable insights into the emotional, mental, and physical challenges faced by those supporting HOTS development may be surfaced. This novel lens offers profound insights to inform and inspire educator practice, providing valuable information for education leadership, management, and support functions. Felicity’s new 5-part structure ‘persona vignette’ format brings research findings into evocative relief so that they more powerfully resonate with readers and support reflection on practice.

On behalf of HES, I extend my warmest congratulations to Dr Healey Benson for this demanding, remarkable achievement. We wish her a joyful day on 11th July and continued success in her academic career.
Congratulations once again. Felicity.
David
